What do you value most in life? What usually holds you back? Helping you uncover old patterns and align with your values is the core of my work. Together, we will use a variety of therapeutic approaches to develop a plan that addresses your challenges and highlights your gifts.
I’ve worked with individuals, couples, and families dealing with complicated grief, end-of-life issues, trust betrayal, adoption dynamics, pornography addiction, blended family issues, sexual dysfunction, identity issues, cultural dissonance, and life transitions. Sometimes we just talk. With your consent, we might also draw, play word games, make maps, or act out scenarios. Breathing or mindfulness exercises might be used. Techniques that resonate with you will be explored; those that don’t will be excluded.
I have wanted to be a family therapist since I was ten years old, and my family entered sessions. It was liberating to speak one’s mind in an environment where the usual hierarchy didn't dominate, and I learned to listen better as a result. I finally became a therapist after raising my own family. In the meantime, I’ve conducted cost analyses, provided behavioral therapy in a school setting, provided elder care, and volunteered extensively on self-help and rejuvenation retreats.
I graduated with honors from Capella University and hold an MS in Marriage and Family Therapy and a BA in English Literature from San Francisco State. I’m a member of the Delta Kappa Honor Society for MFTs, CAMFT, and AAMFT.
In my free time, I enjoy volunteering with the Lions International community or entertaining friends and family. I love reading non-fiction and having nerdy conversations about...almost anything.
