Professional Background

Prior to beginning my internship year, I spent six years working as a Registered Behavior Technician in a variety of settings, including elementary and middle schools, adult residential facilities, and in-home therapy environments. During this time, I gained extensive experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities and developed strong skills in behavior management, crisis de-escalation, and compassionate, client-centered care.

For the past six months, I have served as a Wellness Counselor intern at an elementary school, where I have continued to develop my clinical skills while advocating for the mental, emotional, and social well-being of children and their families within the school system. This experience has strengthened my passion for supporting youth and collaborating with families and educators to create supportive environments for growth and well-being.

Education

B.A. in Psychology, Capella University (2023)
M.A. in Marriage and Family Therapy, Capella University (in progress)

Why I Became a Counselor

My path toward becoming a Marriage and Family Therapist began during my work in the behavioral therapy field. While I deeply valued supporting individuals with developmental disabilities, I often noticed the broader need for systemic intervention and whole-family support. Through my work, I developed a strong appreciation for relationship-building, empathy, and the importance of mental health. Over time, I realized that my perspective on treatment was naturally oriented toward relationships and family systems rather than focusing solely on the individual. When I discovered the field of Marriage and Family Therapy, it felt like everything clicked into place and aligned with how I understood and wanted to support people.

Hobbies and Interests

In my free time, I enjoy music, art, journaling, running, and traveling.
