 Karen
Shomura
Karen Shomura is the Director of Advent Group Ministries Clinical Services and has been involved in the ministry since 1976 when she graduated from BIOLA College. She worked with troubled youth during college, volunteering her time in programs at California Youth Authority and Orange County Probation Department's Youth Guidance Center.
In 1976, Karen was employed at Arbutus Youth Association, where she worked as a Resident Counselor, Senior Counselor, Home Supervisor/Caseworker and Program Director. She received her Masters in Marriage, Family and Child Counseling from Santa Clara University in 1986 and transitioned with the Arbutus team into Advent Group Ministries, where Karen worked as a Program Director in the Recovery Homes. Currently she serves as the Clinical Director for the Counseling Center and the Step Up! Outpatient Recovery Program.
Karen is married and has two grown children. She enjoys raising tropical plants, traveling and spending time with friends.

Sarah Chavez is the clinical
secretary of our counseling center. She has been
working at Advent since 2001 and will be glad
to take your information and coordinate counseling
services for you. To make an appointment with

Thursday. All calls are strictly confidential.
