Tax-Saving Legislation Expires December 31, 2013

We want to make you aware of some important tax-saving legislation that is expiring at the end of 2013.

If you are over 70½ years old, you may be eligible make an IRA charitable rollover to Advent Group Ministries and your gift will not be included in your federal taxable income for 2013. This means you could reduce your taxable income by up to $100,000, substantially lowering the amount of taxes you pay on your 2013 return.

A charitable IRA rollover lets the owner gift up to a total of $100,000 in traditional or Roth IRA assets to one or more qualified non-profit organizations. The distribution must go directly from the IRA custodian to the charity by the December 31, 2013 deadline to qualify.

Even if you made an IRA charitable rollover gift in January 2013 that retroactively counted toward your 2012 taxes, you can still make another rollover gift during 2013.

If a gift to Advent through your IRA is feasible for you, we will make sure your contribution goes directly to support the many kids and families who are relying on this ministry:

  • Teens caught in the tragedy of drug and alcohol addiction who need the treatment it takes to have a new chance in life.
  • Moms who are working to become sober, healthy and stable parents who can effectively nurture and care for their children.
  • Young girls who have survived human-trafficking and need a safe place to find healing and restoration.
  • Families and individuals in our community who need assistance navigating life’s challenges.

If you are interested in learning more about this wonderful giving opportunity, please contact your financial planner or contact Jennifer Morrow at Advent Group Ministries at 408-281-0708 ext. 125 or via email.

Thank you for your faithfulness to this ministry!
